Doug Hilmes
Mr. Hilmes has 25 years of experience in technology companies, including 14 years of executive level positions at high-growth technology companies. Mr. Hilmes has significant technical and industry domain expertise in digital media, mobile/cellular communications, wireless broadband, wireline broadband, public switched telephone networks, Voice-over-IP, and Internet infrastructure technologies. Mr. Hilmes has held a variety of executive positions at startup companies that include VP of Worldwide Sales at Kasenna (acquired), VP of Business Development at Pronto Networks (private), VP of Worldwide Sales at Copper Mountain Networks (went public then acquired), and Area Vice President at Premisys Communications (went public then acquired). At Kasenna, Mr. Hilmes was part of an executive team engaged to turn around a struggling startup company and successfully position the company for sale. At Pronto Networks Mr. Hilmes set strategic direction to successfully establish partnerships with Tier-1 service providers and OEMs including Sprint, Nortel, and Sun Microsystems. At Copper Mountain, Mr. Hilmes was an integral part of a team that grew sales from $22 million to $281 million in a two year period. Mr. Hilmes contribution to Copper Mountain’s success resulted in his appointment as VP of Worldwide Sales and as an Officer of the company. In 2009, Mr. Hilmes founded Media Retriever, an early-stage company that focused on the emerging streaming media marketplace. In addition to Mr. Hilmes tenure at startups, he served as Director of Business Development of Syniverse Technologies (public) a $330 million mobile telephony financial clearing and services company where he led a team focused on strategic direction and new product development. Mr. Hilmes prior experience includes various marketing and engineering positions with AT&T Paradyne, Sun Microsystems, and Apollo Computer. Mr. Hilmes earned his B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Illinois and his MBA from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. |
